Frequently Asked Questions about MapStats

MapStats is a merger of traditional statistic/counter programs and the powerful Google Maps. You can instantly see both dynamically and easily. Because of its uniqueness, there are a few quirks that can confuse people. This quick little FAQ is written to help alleviate any confusion.

Is there a limit to how popular my site has to be to use your service?

Not at all. The entire tracking system has been built with scalability in mind. We have tested with sites that receive over 100,000 pageviews per day and there have been no hiccups.

Why do you not have full referrer/resolution/cookie/etc information for every visitor?

Simply put - we cannot get it. Sometimes people visit pages directly (no referrer). Sometimes JS is disabled. We do our best to get the necessary information as we can.

Are the latest cities in real-time?

Yes - the log files are read right when you load it.

I can see the information with the yellow hover, but I cannot click on any of the links!

Double click on the city entry - it will zoom you in on the equivalent spot on the map. From there you can click on any of the links.

Can we see more than 100 cities at a time?

We are considering this feature. We chose 100 not only because it is a round nice number but also because most computers start struggling once there are more than 100 cities marked.

Can I get a list of the latest cities to visit my site?

Of course. We provide an RSS feed of the 25 latest cities to visit your site, and also javascript HTML that you can put into your site. The RSS feed is available from your MapStats front page, and the JavaScript link from your User Control Panel.

Are you going to add dynamic graphing? So I can choose the data range to graph

Definitely! We are figuring out the optimal way of doing that.

Will there be more features added?

Definitely! We are working on expanding the stats to be more comprehensive and intelligent.

My site is not a blog and I want to use this service - what can I do?

Please use evoStats.
